Jean Duff(née Robinson)passed away peacefully at 93 and 1/2 years old. Born in Peekskill , she was the daughter of Fred C. And Carrie Pierce Robinson. Graduating from Peekskill High School in 1942, she went on to earn her Bachelors Degree in Education from NYU in 1946. On February 16, 1947 she married her high school sweetheart, Douglas W. Duff, who pre-deceased her ( 1924-91). Douglas worked for her father in the family business at Robinsons Paint Store, which he eventually took over in the 60’s. The business remains in the family nearly 100 years later under the ownership of her daughter and son- in- law- Judith and Fred Dunstan of Garrison. In addition to the aforementioned daughter, she is also survived by daughter Lois and her husband Ed Craumer of Oradell, NJ, and son John and his wife Joy of New Bern, NC. She was the proud grandmother of 5 grandchildren with whom she shared her love of music, reading, skiing and LBI. In the past 10 years she also welcomed 6 great- grandchildren who brought her much delight. She was predeceased by her brother Albert, and 2 sisters- Helen and Dorothy.
In addition to raising her family in Mohegan Lake, Jean was active in several local groups including the Junior Women’s Club,The Peekskill Hospital Auxiliary, The Saint Francis Hospital Auxiliary and The Taghkanic Chorale.
As a professional she was a substitute teacher, and once her children were grown she became a beloved teacher at George Washington School in Mohegan Lake, where she impacted many students lives.
She will be remembered by many for her energy, willingness to “ pitch in”, her musical talent- both on the piano and vocal, her welcoming home and wonderful cooking - and mostly for the past 42 years as “Meemo”.

Jean became part of our family while working at the thrift shop. She was " Duffy" to us and was such a wonderful friend. She was pure sunshine and always caught any mistaken spelling when I made signs for the shop. Missed her when she moved from Fishkill. Kaye and Bill Adams
